Who Am I?

Hi there!

I'm Alan, and I'm a retired computer geek with too many hobbies. When I retired I kept the company domain name and it is now my personal site.

As you can see in the above photo, I have a cat (actually, three). This one is my lynx point Siamese, Godzilla. He got his name for his habit of destroying cardboard boxes.

Because of my love of cats I volunteer at the Oregon Humane Society, Salem Campus. Every Monday I work in the surgery clinic, cleaning and sterilizing surgical instruments. I am also on-call to do animal transports between our shelter and other locations.

At home, my main activity at the moment is restoring a 1962 Triumph TR4 sports car. I started this project in 1978(!) and belive that I am about a year from finishing.

My other main hobby is vintage (1970s) DEC (Digital Equipment Corp.) computer systems. I have multiple PDP-11 and VAX systems in addition to a smattering of IBM and other punch card and tape equipment.

I am also an amateur "ham" radio operator, call sign K7AEF.

Mostly I am enjoying retirement in beautiful rural Oregon, about 15 miles outside the state capitol of Salem.
